OUR STORY
We are Caddy Kids Nigerian Dwarf Goats, home of Darrell and Corry Caddy on DC Caddy Ranch in Montrose, CO. Our love for these docile, gentle and loving goats, inspired us to increase our herd size from 2019 - 2023 through show and quality dairy goats with amazing pedigree’s (Super Genetics, Permanent Grand Champion, Advance Registry, Star Does and Sires) maintaining the Nigerian Dwarf Goat breed standards. These amazing little goats are full of personality, curiosity, warming your heart and bringing a smile to your face.
Unfortunately in 2023, I had to have a medical procedure that changed my life. Not being able to lift over 30 pounds going forward, I was forced to sell my beautiful herd. As many farmers and breeders know, there is a lot of heavy lifting involved to keep livestock healthy and so many chores that take a toll on us.
After having to sell my herd at the beginning of the year due to a medical procedure, I decided to keep my goat milk soap business going. I was fortunate enough to have a friend that bought my Kalei, offer her back to me. Kalei is a Rock Star Milker, averaging 3lbs of creamy goat milk twice a day. Kalei will be our source of milk to use in our soap. We are so excited to have this beautiful doe back as Caddy Kid Goat.
I have partnered with a dear friend that I have known since 2019. She started a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats from some beautiful does and bucks out of our young herd. As she grew, she improved her genetics and focused on maintaining quality ADGA goats. She has generously offered to house Kalei with her herd as goats are herd animals and need their peers! Since we don't have many goats to offer for sale, Julie will have lots! Thank you Julie at Lil Rascals farm for your friendship and generosity.
Our goats are always given the best care, updated regularly on vaccinations, hoof trimming, grooming, and lots of attention. Our herd is tested annually for CL, CAE & Johne's and is our goal to offer ND's that are not only high quality but friendly and easy to manage. We have a hay farm on our ranch as well, so we know exactly what our goats are eating. Our hay is primarily Orchard grass, with a small amount of clover. We supplement our milking and pregnant does with alfalfa pellets and a "special blend" grain as necessary to maintain proper nutrition and healthy production. Our bucks eat the same grass hay, supplementing with Timothy Grass Pellets for special treats. We provide “free choice” mineral to our goats in order to prevent hair loss, copper deficiency, and improve balanced nutrition. This practice has proved successful as our goats have extremely healthy coats and tails!
We were always an ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association) Performance Herd, to include DHIR Milk Testing, LA (Linear Appraisal), and DNA verification. We offered high quality Nigerian Dwarf Goats, bred for show and dairy quality. With only having a single doe, we will maintain our ADGA membership and sell kids out of our doe Kalei every year as to keep Kalei in milk for our goat milk soap.
